Holiday Break

Well, since we are out of school for the holidays, I will not be able to post any cartoons until I get back. I don't have a scanner at home, but once school is back in session I will post some more. I also wanted to let everyone know that I was lucky enough to talk to Michael Ramirez not once, but twice. If you do not know who Michael Ramirez is, he used to work for the Commercial Appeal as a political cartoonist, and is now the best, most accredited cartoonist around, with 2 Pulitzer prizes for his cartoons. Well, he was on the Mike Flemming show here in Memphis, and I got on the show. I was able to talk to him and get some advice about becoming an editorial cartoonist. Then, I learned he was signing his book of cartoons the next day and I went and got to meet him personally. It was awesome, and he is a really nice guy. I hope one day I am just close to the success he has become. Anyway, I'll be back after the break, but hopefully will have time to get some cartoons done. See ya later.

Caroline Magic Johnson

Well, apparently Caroline Kennedy
wants to take Hilary's Senate seat, having no
experience, just a last name...

The Chicago Way

With all the crooked things going on in his home state, and where
he was a senator, and all the relationships he had, kinda hard
to be totally clean and oblivious to all the corruption.

Not Even Superman?

This is a stab out our local government not wanting to hire
police officers if they don't live within the city limits. I would
understand if we had tons of qualified people beating down the door to
serve, but we don't, so we just rather have high crime rate?

King Willie

This is the kin... I mean Mayor of Memphis, Willie Herenton.
He is so above his competitors that in the election this year he
did not debate, because he didn't "need to".

The reason for the....blog

I just wanted to fill in those looking at my blog; friends, family, and all other onlookers, about the reason for the blog. I am currently a Elementary Visual Arts Teacher. This is a very rewarding job, and I gain a lot from it, but I feel that it does not give me the opportunity to really express my opinions, and use my talents. So I am looking at becoming a cartoonist, particularly at doing editorial or political cartoons. Which brings me to the reason for this blog. While I am starting out, and trying to get my name and cartoons out there, I thought this would be a great opportunity to let others look at my cartoons and respond to them. So if you have any comments, positive or negative, please feel free to post them. All feedback is helpful. I am going to try and post at least 2 or 3 new cartoons a week, it will just depend on my schedule, and how much I can get done at school. I will sometimes deal with my local politics, but I will give an explanation so the cartoon makes some sense to everyone. Thanks to anyone looking, and get your friends to look and leave comments.

Bailout Stew

What I think of the bailouts that keep getting passed around.
